Villa Bossi 2018

Chianti Riserva DOCG

Harvest and climate

The 2018 vintage was characterized by winter rainfall and a mild spring. The summer was variable with a very hot July followed by August rainfall, which lowered temperatures. This resulted in grapes of excellent quality, with aromas and notes that will be found in the wine.

Fermentation and vinification

Fermentation takes place in vats at a temperature of 20° C, controlled by a refrigeration unit. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.

Ageing

Aged for 12 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels, 12 months in barriques, and 24 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Villa Bossi 2018 has an intense ruby red color, with good color depth and light purple reflections. Great olfactory impact with a fruitiness of ripe and macerated cherry and blackberry, followed by a sweet and integrated spicy aroma of vanilla with balsamic and toasty nuances. The finish presents notes of chocolate and coffee. On the palate, great structure and character. The fullness of the wine is evident in the roundness and personality of the tannins. The finish is long, with fruity and mineral notes, closing with a pleasant note of chocolate.

Pairing

Stews and roasts of game, very aged and mature cheeses.

Production area

Tenuta della Villa Bossi, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level, in the Sottomonte and Camerata vineyards, with south-facing and hilly exposure, there are 9.2 hectares of Sangiovese, 3.1 hectares of Colorino, and 2.7 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon. Gravelly and clay soils with calcareous sediments. Training system: Cordon spur.

Serving temperature and glass
