Harvest and climate

The 2020 vintage was characterized by rainfall during winter and a mild spring. The summer was variable with a very hot July followed by an August with rainfall, which lowered the temperatures. This resulted in grapes of excellent quality, with aromas and notes that will be found in the wine.

Fermentation and vinification

Fermentation takes place in vats at a temperature of 20°C, controlled by a refrigeration unit. Malolactic fermentation then follows in oak barrels.

Ageing

Aged for 12 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels, 12 months in barriques, and 24 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Villa Bossi 2020 has an intense ruby red color, with good coloring matter and light purple reflections. Great olfactory impact with a fruity character of ripe and macerated cherry and blackberry, followed by a sweet and integrated spicy note of vanilla with balsamic and toasty nuances. The finish presents notes of chocolate and coffee. On the palate, great structure and character. The fullness of the wine is demonstrated in the roundness and personality of the tannins. The finish is long, with fruity and mineral notes, concluding with a pleasant chocolate note.

Pairing

Umidi e arrosti di grossa cacciagione, formaggi molto invecchiati e maturi.
