Harvest and climate

The 2016 vintage was characterized by rainfall during the winter and a mild spring. The summer was variable with a very hot July followed by August with rainfall, which lowered the temperatures. This resulted in grapes of excellent quality, with aromas and notes that will be found in the wine.

Fermentation and vinification

Fermentation takes place in vats at a temperature of 20° C, controlled by a refrigeration unit. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.

Ageing

It rests for 12 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels, 12 months in barriques, and 24 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes

Villa Bossi 2016 is an intense ruby red color, with good color intensity and light purple reflections. Great olfactory impact with a fruity aroma of ripe and macerated cherry and blackberry, followed by a sweet and integrated spicy notes of vanilla with balsamic and toasted undertones. The finish presents notes of chocolate and coffee. On the palate, great structure and character. The fullness of the wine is demonstrated in the roundness and personality of the tannins. The finish is long, with fruity and mineral notes, concluding with a pleasant hint of chocolate.

Pairing

Game stews and roasts, very aged and mature cheeses.
