Harvest and climate

The winter and spring of 2013 were characterized by mild temperatures and frequent rains. The month of September and the first half of October, i.e. the harvest period, were climatically perfect. The temperature fluctuations resulted in perfect grapes with great primary aromas that will be found in the wines. The grapes were hand-picked in early October.

Fermentation and vinification

Fermentation takes place in vats at a temperature of 20° C, controlled by a refrigeration system. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.

Ageing

It rests for 12 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels, 12 months in barriques, and 24 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes

Villa Bossi 2013 has an intense ruby red color, with good color density and light purple reflections. Great olfactory impact with a fruity aroma of ripe and macerated cherry and blueberry, followed by a sweet and integrated spicy note of vanilla with balsamic and toasty nuances. The finish presents notes of chocolate and coffee. On the palate, great structure and character. The fullness of the wine is evident in the roundness and personality of the tannins, the finish is long with fruity and mineral notes, closing with a pleasant coffee note.

Pairing

Stews and roasts of game, very aged and mature cheeses.

Production area

Tenuta della Villa Bossi, at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, in the Sottomonte and Camerata vineyards, with south-facing and hilly exposure, there are 9.2 hectares of Sangiovese, 3.1 hectares of Colorino, and 2.7 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon. Gravelly and clayey soils with calcareous sediments. Training system: Cordon spur.
