Fiammae 2015

Fiammae 2015

Colli della Toscana centrale IGT

Born from the vision of Gerardo and Lapo Gondi, who, believing in the territory and its most representative grape variety, Sangiovese, felt the need to have a traditional yet innovative wine among the wines of Tenuta Bossi. A wine that has the characteristics of their souls: power and persistence, balance and freshness.

Harvest and climate

The 2015 vintage was characterized by abundant rainfall during the winter and a mild spring. The summer was variable with occasional heavy rainfall and some hailstorms. However, the quality of the grapes harvested and brought to the cellar was of a very high standard, foreshadowing a vintage of great substance. The grapes were hand-picked on September 10th; 50% were left to dry in the attic for a month, while the rest were pressed immediately.

Fermentation and vinification

Fermentation takes place in a 500-liter stainless steel tank, at a temperature controlled by a refrigeration unit.

Ageing

Aged for 18 months in French barriques, specifically 50% of the immediately pressed wine with a barrique of medium toast, while the dried grapes were aged in a barrique of a more austere and powerful quality. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes

Fiammae 2015 is a brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, it is very intense and complex, with sensations that begin with red fruits, both fresh and dried, such as cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, then develop with spicy and toasty notes. The spiciness is sweet, finishing with nuances of dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it is powerful and rich, with firm and silky tannins. The fruity notes of strawberry and cherry, along with the toasty and spicy notes, are repeated in the mouth. A wine of great personality.

Pairing

Rich red meats such as fillets or small game.
